Trauma can be associated with any event that overwhelms the nervous system. Whether it be from a single, painful event or the result of emotional neglect and a persistent and significant lack of attunement with important adults during childhood, the effects of trauma linger. It can create a general feeling of anxiety, fear, and hopelessness. It can also leave wounds that get triggered causing us to relive the original feelings and body sensations in the present. I can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of healing with EMDR and other evidence based practices.

I work with those struggling with anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. I use eclectic evidence-based approaches tailored to individual needs. You can expect an atmosphere of warmth and trust in a non-judgmental, safe space to work on challenging eating disorder thoughts and behaviors. I will help you get to a place of restored health, self acceptance and trust with your body.
Treatment is based on the latest research and evidence based practices within a warm and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship. The first few sessions will involve a thorough assessment. When the assessment is complete, I will discuss with you goals and create a treatment plan to guide our work together. My aim is for our sessions to be as focused and effective as possible.
I will spend our first few sessions gathering information to come up with a plan for moving forward and meeting personalized goals. After our initial session where I will meet with both of you, I will typically schedule a session with each partner separately to take a history and gain insight into personal issues affecting the relationship. I will assign homework to practice skills between sessions.
Eating disorders are complex and may often require a team of specialists to provide adequate support for recovery. I work with a group of doctors and dietitians who specialize in eating disorders. We meet weekly to discuss how best to support our clients, and I use this information to inform our therapy. Clients may choose to not work with these doctors and dietitians, though it is recommended.
I practice out of Aspen Grove Counseling. There is free street parking in the front, wheelchair accessible parking in the back, a waiting room with tea, and single stall restrooms.
I can see clients via Telehealth, if the client prefers. Teletherapy can be conducted via a secure video platform. You will need a device with a camera that is connected to the internet and privacy to participate in a teletherapy session.
Please contact me by phone or email to discuss my fees. I am not in-network with any insurance companies and do not accept insurance. I accept payment at the time of service by cash, check and all major credit cards including HSA/FHA cards. I will be happy to provide documentation for out-of-network insurance benefits upon request. Please contact your insurance plan administrator to inquire about out-of-network mental health coverage. Such coverage will typically reimburse psychotherapy with me, though it is not guaranteed.
